Aluminium jar is very important to the United States. Many of our favorite beverages are located under the pull-tab or screw cap. Coors pioneered the use of aluminium jar in 1959. Since then, sales of soda, energy drinks, soda and more and more refined beer have increased steadily. Aluminium cans are the most sustainable beverage packaging and can be recycled indefinitely. They cool quickly, provide high-quality metal canvas for printing. Most importantly, aluminium jar can protect the flavor and integrity of our favorite beverages.
The most sustainable beverage container: As the most valuable packaging in the trash can, aluminium jar is by far the beverage container with the highest recycling rate. The average tank contains 70% recycled metal.
Transportation efficiency: It has weight advantage. Aluminium jar is light in weight and easy to stack. This provides storage and transportation efficiency and limits overall transportation carbon emissions through logistics and supply chains.
An aluminium can is recycled over and over again in a true closed loop recycling process. Glass and plastic are usually circulated down into products such as carpet fibers or landfill liners.
New markets continue to evolve, and many craft beer brewers now use aluminium jar to produce more than 1,700 different beers. In addition to the unparalleled sustainability of aluminium packaging, protection of light and oxygen are two key benefits.
Aluminium jar can be made from recycled aluminum. In 2017, the United States produced 3.8 million tons of aluminum, of which 620,000 tons were recycled, with a recycling rate of 16%. According to estimates by the Aluminum Association, there is still a large amount of unrecycled aluminium in the United States, and about 700 million US dollars of aluminium jars end up in landfill each year. In 2012, 92% of aluminum beverage cans sold in Switzerland were recycled. Cans are the beverage container with the highest recycling rate, with a global recycling rate of 69%. According to Alcoa, approximately 34 aluminium cans were needed in 2015 to reach a weight of 1 pound. The unspecified assumption is that most of these will be typical 12-ounce cans.
One problem is that the top of the can is made of a mixture of aluminium and magnesium to increase its strength. When the can is melted for recycling, the mixture does not fit on the top or bottom/side. Instead of mixing recycled metal with more aluminium (softening) or magnesium (hardening), a new method uses annealing to produce alloys that are suitable for both. Aluminium jar is also considered to be the most valuable recyclable material in ordinary recycling bins. It is estimated that Americans throw away nearly one billion U.S. dollars of aluminum scrap every year. The aluminum industry pays nearly 800 million U.S. dollars each year for recycling aluminum because of its wide range of uses.
